Laakso chair, designed by Saku Sysiö for the Finnish design house Made By Choice, is a flowingly shaped dining chair. The chair was named after its curved, valley-shaped backrest - Laakso is a Finnish word for valley - and also Helsinki’s Laakso district, where the chair was designed. The combination of a U-shaped backrest and A-shaped legs gives a vivid character to the Laakso chair. Made of lightly shaped solid ash in Made By Choice's own factory in Finland, Laakso makes an excellent dining chair for homes, cafés and restaurants. Laakso was awarded as the best chair at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2017 in the United Kingdom.

Designer
Saku Sysiö is a Finnish industrial designer and co-founder of the design studio Aivan, established in Helsinki in 2007. Sykiö graduated as an industrial designer from the Lahti Institute of Design in 2005, and has also studied at Denmark’s School of Design. Sykiö specializes in product design with a special interest in furniture and spatial design. His works are often characterized by different combinations of timeless, minimalist aesthetics and precise functionalism perfected with fine details of craftsmanship.
